NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic has recalled about 11,480 electric toaster ovens in the United States and 2,184 in Canada after regulators said the power cord insulation may be insufficient, creating a shock and fire hazard for customers who bought the appliances through Amazon, Costco and other online sellers.
The recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 stainless steel toaster ovens with the Panasonic name on the front and the temperature knob on the bottom, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The agency said the units were sold online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other platforms nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170.
The CPSC said it has received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working, but no fires or injuries have been reported. Panasonic’s Costco member letter said some Costco records show purchases of Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026, and it told owners to stop using the ovens and return them to Panasonic or to a Costco warehouse customer service window for a full refund.
